Our Verdict

When comparing bananas to pomegranates, we picked the pomegranate.

Why?

Both are great! But…

In terms of macros, bananas have more carbs while pomegranate has nearly 2x the fiber, so that’s an easy first-round win for pomegranate.

In the category of vitamins, bananas have more of vitamins B2, B3, and B6 (whence the color), while pomegranates have more of vitamins B1, B5, B7, B9, C, E, and K, winning another round easily.

Looking at minerals, bananas have more magnesium, manganese, potassium, and selenium, while pomegranates have more calcium, copper, iron, phosphorus, and zinc, winning a third round in a row.

In other considerations, pomegranate has some additional health benefits, but as you’ll read from the link below, they’re mainly in the peel which most people don’t eat.

Adding up the sections makes for a very clear overall win for pomegranates, but by all means enjoy either or both, as diversity is best!
