Our Verdict

When comparing apples to cantaloupe, we picked the cantaloupe.

Why?

An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but melons are bigger and heavier and thus much more intimidating when thrown!

And as for nutritional considerations…

In terms of macros, apples start strong with more than 2x the fiber and slightly more carbs, while cantaloupe technically has more protein, but we’re talking a difference of 0.58g/100g, so we can safely disregard that, and call this round an easy win for apples based on on the fiber content.

In the category of vitamins, apples have more of vitamins B2 and E, while cantaloupe has a lot more of vitamins A, B1, B3, B5, B6, B9, C, and K, winning this round easily.

Looking at minerals, apples are not higher in any minerals, while cantaloupe has more calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, and zinc, winning another round easily.

Adding up the sections makes for a clear overall win for cantaloupe, but by all means enjoy either or both, as diversity is best!
