Our Verdict
When comparing peas to sweetcorn, we picked the peas.
Why?
It wasn’t close:
In terms of macros, peas have nearly 3x the fiber and 2x the protein, while sweetcorn has slightly more carbs. An easy first-round win for peas.
In the category of vitamins, peas have more of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B7, B9, C, E, and K (including more than 82x more vitamin K, of which peas are a good source!), while sweetcorn has more vitamin B5 (the vitamin that’s in almost all foods and in which it’s almost impossible to be deficient unless you are literally starving to death), so that’s an overwhelming win for peas.
Looking at minerals, peas have much more calcium, copper, iron, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and zinc, while sweetcorn has (negligibly) more magnesium and potassium, yielding another very one-sided win to peas.
Adding up the sections makes for a very clear overall win for peas, but by all means do enjoy either or both, as diversity is best!
