Our Verdict

When comparing gooseberries to mango, we picked the gooseberries.

Why?

Both have their merits! But…

In terms of macros, gooseberries have nearly 3x the fiber while mangos have more carbs, which we say is a first-round win for gooseberries.

In the category of vitamins, however, gooseberries have more of vitamins B1 and B5, while mangos have more of vitamins A, B2, B3, B6, B9, C, and E, winning this round.

Looking at minerals, gooseberries have more calcium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc, while mango has more copper, yielding a 6:1 win to gooseberries here.

In other considerations, gooseberries (like most berries) are much higher in polyphenols, so that’s a third round in gooseberries’ favor.

Adding up the sections makes for a clear overall win for gooseberries, but by all means do enjoy either or both, as mangos’ vitamins are still great, and diversity is best!
