Our Verdict

When comparing apple to grapes, we picked the grapes.

Why?

In the battle of these two fruits who each haven’t won anything ever in any of these comparisons we’ve done so far… It’s grapes that finally win something!

In terms of macros, it’s apples that score the first point though, having more than 2x the fiber, while grapes have slightly more carbs.

In the category of vitamins, apples have more of vitamins B5 and C, while grapes have more of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, K, and choline, winning.

Looking at minerals, apples are not higher in any mineral, while grapes have more calcium, copper, iron, and manganese, winning.

When it comes to other considerations, grapes have more polyphenols, depending on the color, with red and black grapes delivering mostly anthocyanins. You might be wondering about resveratrol, and yes, they do have that too, at the nearly-exciting rate of 0.15mg/100g (that’s basically nothing).

So, not exactly a nutritional tour-de-force today, but adding up the sections it’s clearly a win for grapes; by all means do enjoy either or both though; diversity is good!

Can We Drink To Good Health? ← while there are polyphenols such as resveratrol in red wine that per se would boost heart health, there’s so little per glass that you may need 100–1000 glasses per day to get the dosage that provides benefits in mouse studies.

If you’re not a mouse, you might even need more than that!
